Tribute to Weatherstem Co-Founder Julie Davis
October 21, 1967 to September 17, 2018
By Weatherstem CEO Ed Mansouri
The smiling face in the picture here belongs to Ms. Julie Davis who passed away on September 17, 2018 after a four-year long battle with cancer.
Julie passed away at University of Florida's Shands Hospital surrounded by family. She fought an inspiring fight until the very end.
The Weatherstem company that I am so proud to be associated with would not exist were it not for Julie.
Julie was my sister-in-law, but she was so much more like a sister to me. She has had more of an influence on my life than any other person. She was the hardest working, most positive person I've ever met.
As far as Weatherstem, it was Julie's encouragement to me to "follow my heart" and jump boldly into my "crazy idea" of setting up weather stations at schools that gave me the courage to do so.
Not only that, but she believed in the vision enough where she left behind a lucrative business of her own to join me in getting the program started.
Julie was Weatherstem's first team member and she was such an indispensable part of getting the program off the ground, she absolutely deserves to be considered our Co-Founder.
Many people at some of our earliest sites will remember Julie and her infectious smile and outgoing personality.
Julie will be sorely missed but I am proud to carry on the program she helped launch and know that her pioneering spirit is an indispensable fabric of the entire project.
If you were one of the lucky people who knew Julie or if you're just inspired to learn of her life and legacy and would like to participate in honoring her, you can make a donation to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
